Edinson Cavani reveals why he decided to stay at Manchester United
Edinson Cavani has been linked with an Old Trafford exit for the past several months. But the Uruguayan has decided to remain at Manchester United for another season by extending his current deal, which will keep him at the club until June 2022.
It goes without saying that this will be a major boost for the Red Devils. Cavani has been absolutely brilliant recently and is the best striker at the club at this point of time.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, the Uruguayan striker has scored 15 goals in 35 appearances for Manchester United. He has featured for 1859 minutes of football though and is averaging a goal every 124 minutes. Thus, him leaving would have been a worry for the club. Striker is a position that they do not possess much depth in.
Cavani has revealed why he decided to remain at Old Trafford. As reported by the club’s official website, he said:
"“You know, to answer that question sincerely, about what the reasons were behind it and what is my motivation to stay, quite simply I would say it is exactly what this club represents, what Manchester United represents as an entity, as an organisation. That is down to the club itself, but also the people who work behind the scenes and within the club, obviously the supporters as well. As the days, weeks and months pass by, you do get to develop a huge affection for the club and I think, on a human level, it creates a bond with yourself, your team-mates and everybody who is part of the club, and you start to feel that. You notice that it is a real motivation and it gives you a desire to want to stay. I am very excited and keen to stay for another season, to give it my best, to help the club on the field as I can and hopefully bring some happiness and joy to the supporters.”"

Cavani staying is a huge boost for Manchester United
There were fears that Cavani could have been headed for the Old Trafford exit at the end of this season with many rumours linking him with a move to Boca Juniors.
The Uruguayan has been in red-hot form recently though and surely that played its part in convincing him to remain at the club for one more season. This will be a huge boost for the Red Devils and one less thing to worry about in the summer.
But even though Cavani has decided to remain at the club, they will be expected to sign another striker in the upcoming summer transfer window. At the end of the day, the Uruguayan is 34 years of age and will not be long-term solution up top.
In this regard, they have been linked with a number of strikers over the course of the last several months, including the likes of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Andre Silva and many others
