Manchester United have enjoyed a brilliant campaign overall, as they sit at second in the Premier League table and are in the final of the Europa League, where they will have the chance to win their first trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And while winning it seems improbable at this point of time, it is worth pointing out that the Premier League race is not over yet with Manchester City needing a win from their last three games to secure the title.
As a result, it has been a successful season for the Red Devils all things considered. One of the biggest reasons for that is Edinson Cavani, who was signed on a free transfer last summer.
The Uruguayan has shown that he is still capable of leading the line for a top Premier League side although he has had his fair share of injury issues. Cavani has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the summer though, which will be a worry for the club. And Rio Ferdinand has sent him a transfer message. The Manchester United legend tweeted out:
Mr @ECavaniOfficial pls stay
— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) May 9, 2021
Thank you

Cavani staying would be a huge boost for Manchester United
There is no doubt that Cavani is the most pure goalscorer at the club right now. And considering the fact that striker is a position that the Red Devils do not possess much depth in right now, him staying beyond this season would be a major boost.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 15 goals in 35 appearances across all competitions for the club and is averaging a goal every 124 minutes for them. Those are spectacular stats for any striker.
Even if Cavani stays though, the Red Devils must make a move for another striker in the upcoming summer transfer window. At the end of the day, the Uruguayan is 34 years of age, and is not a long-term solution for the problems up top.
