Manchester United are expected to try to sign a striker in the upcoming summer transfer window. Anthony Martial has failed to find the back of the net on a consistent basis this season. On the other hand, Edinson Cavani has impressed but he is 34 years of age and is not a long-term solution to the problems up top.

They have been linked with the likes of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Andre Silva, Andrea Belotti and many others in recent months. But one name that has not been brought up is that of Tammy Abraham.

The striker has not featured much ever since Thomas Tuchel arrived at Chelsea and it is believed that the club could be open to letting him leave if an offer around £40 million is made. As a result, could he prove to be an option for the Red Devils?

Simon Jordan believes that the 23-year-old is capable of playing for Manchester United. As reported by talkSPORT, he said:

"“I could see him at a club like Barcelona or a club in Italy or one of the top six in this country.“This boy could play in the Manchester United side.”"

Could Abraham be the solution to Manchester United’s problems?

When it comes to strikers, a lot of the times, it is about the style of football. Abraham has shown already that he knows the way to the back of the net. According to Transfermarkt, he has scored 30 goals and provided 12 assists in 81 appearances for Chelsea over his career.

More importantly, those 81 appearances have combined for 4553 minutes, meaning that he is averaging a goal contribution every 108 minutes or so. That is an excellent record for any striker and he has scored some big goals during his time at Chelsea as well. His build up play and ability to hold up the ball are also underrated.

Now, can he be the man to lead the Manchester United line for years to come? That is certainly up for debate and will depend on how he adjusts to the style of play, if the club do end up signing him.

At this point of time, there is no indication that the Red Devils are weighing up a move for Abraham but he is certainly an option that they should consider if the opportunity is there to get a move done in the summer.
