Manchester United came out with a massive 6-2 win over AS Roma in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie.

This will be a huge result for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his men, as they have failed to get past the semi-final stage under the manager in multiple competitions in the past. But after this performance, it is safe to say that they have a foot in the final.

One has to admit that AS Roma were extremely unlucky on the night, losing three of their players to injury in the first-half of the game itself. And it clearly had an effect on their performance in the second half of the game.

Now, all eyes will be on the second leg of the tie. And although there have been some incredible comebacks in Europe over the past few years, one has to feel that Manchester United are now heavy favourites to make it to the final of the competition.

Manchester United Player Ratings vs AS Roma

Here’s how we rated the Manchester United players as they managed a brilliant 6-2 win over AS Roma in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie:

David de Gea – 6

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6.5

Victor Lindelof – 6.5

Harry Maguire – 6.5

Luke Shaw – 7

Scott McTominay – 6

Fred – 6

Marcus Rashford – 6

Bruno Fernandes – 8.5

Paul Pogba  – 8

Edinson Cavani – 8.5

Substitutes

Mason Greenwood – 7.5

Nemanja Matic – 6

Juan Mata – 5

Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani each scored a brace on the night while Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood got a goal each to their names as well.

While Cavani has been very much a man in form in the past several weeks, this will be a huge boost for Fernandes, who has not been impressive in recent times. Hopefully, this will provide the Portuguese star with a confidence boost going into the final stretch of the season.

Now, the focus will turn towards the Premier League once again as Manchester United welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford on Sunday.
