There is no denying the fact that Mason Greenwood is one of the brightest prospects in world football right now and many believe him to be the future of Manchester United.

The teenager had an incredible breakout campaign in 2019/20, which saw him score 17 goals according to stats from Transfermarkt. But he did endure a difficult start to the current campaign.

He appears to have come back into his own in recent months though and is playing some brilliant football right now, finding the back of the net on a consistent basis. And as a result, he is the talk of the football world once again.

One thing about this season has been the fact that he has mostly been deployed down the right wing, a position that the club lack in depth at this point of time. Most people believe that his future lies through the middle of the attack though and Greenwood himself appears to be of the same view. While speaking with Stadium Astro and as reported by Metro, he said:

"‘I’ve said it in past interviews and I think long-term I want to be in that No.9 role but if I play on the right or in that No.9 role wherever the manager picks me or tells me to play I’ll go out there and do my best.’"

He also wants to be the man scoring the goals for the Red Devils in the future:

"‘I want to win a lot of trophies I want to be at United being the guy who is scoring all the goals at United that’s my dream since I’ve been a little kid really.‘To win a lot of Silverware that’s another thing I want to do and hopefully we can do that this season with the Europa League but I just want to be the man scoring goals. It’s a role everyone wants to be in.’"

Greenwood is the future of Manchester United

Greenwood is already a regular part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team. As a result, it is very easy to forget that he is still just 19 years of age and will only get better moving forward.

Thus, the fans should definitely be very excited about his potential and there is every possibility that he could one day be one of the best players in the world.

That is for the future though. For now, the focus of Greenwood should be on playing as much as possible and developing his game as much as he can in these early years of his career. Perhaps playing in different positions will have in that cause even further.
