Manchester United have made it a habit in recent years to sign some of the most highly-rated talents from around the world and putting them into the club’s youth sides, hoping that they can develop into Premier League quality players in the near future.

And this approach seems to be working very well, with a number of young players on the verge of breaking into the senior squad at the moment.

Amad is the most recent example of this. He was signed from Atalanta in the last summer transfer window and big things are already expected from him. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has already made 5 appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and has a goal to his name as well.

And it looks like the club will look to continue signing highly-rated young players. As reported by The Sun, Manchester United lead the transfer chase for Pape Sarr, who currently plays for Ligue 1 side Metz.

Manchester United linked with move for Pape Sarr

It was not too long ago that Sarr was playing for Generation Foot back in his native Senegal. He only joined Metz last summer but he has already made quite an impact since then.

The 18-year-old has already made his debut for the Senegal national team and is a fixture in Metz’s first-team as well, having made 19 appearances for them and scoring 3 goals in the process of doing so, according to stats from Transfermarkt.

Sarr plays as a defensive midfielder, a position that the Red Devils might need some reinforcements in the near future with Nemanja Matic set to turn 33 at the start of next season. But they are expected to face competition from around Europe for Sarr’s signature.

At 18 years of age, it is unlikely that he will immediately be a part of Solskjaer’s first-team plans even if the club are able to sign him. Similar to Amad, it is likely that he would be eased into the team.
