Manchester United have been linked with a move for a striker in recent months. The club have had their difficulties finding the back of the net at times this season.

Anthony Martial has looked out of form for the majority of the campaign. On the other, Edinson Cavani has looked good when on the pitch. But he has had his injury issues, which have kept him on the sidelines for a lot of the season.

On top of that, the Uruguayan is being linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season. As a result, it might be very important that the Red Devils sign a striker in the summer transfer window.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin appears to be a player that Rio Ferdinand is a big fan of. Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube Channel and as reported by Metro, he said:

"‘Listen Dominic Calvert-Lewin for me I love him.‘I’ve watched a lot of Everton this year and he’s one that unnerves defenders.‘He’s not one you want to play against week in, week out. He’s aggressive, he attacks the ball.’"

Ferdinand also believes that the Everton striker would have a big impact at Manchester United:

"‘It’s one out of left field a little bit but I think he’d have a big impact. He’d get on the end of the things created by Fernandes, Pogba, Rashford, Greenwood etc.’"

Calvert-Lewin could be a shrewd signing for Manchester United

The Red Devils have been linked with the likes of Harry Kane and Erling Haaland in recent months. But both strikers are expected to command transfer fees around £150 million. On the other hand, Calvert-Lewin is believed to be rated at around £80 million by Everton.

The English international is currently enjoying a spectacular campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 19 goals and provided 4 assists in 32 appearances across all competitions this season. He also has an impressive 4 goals in 7 appearances for the England national team to his name.

Thus, signing someone like Calvert-Lewin could make a lot of sense for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. He is different to anyone that the club already have in their ranks and would provide a unique presence up top for the Red Devils if they can bring him to Old Trafford.
