Manchester United legend names one player the club should sign
Manchester United are expected to make a few moves in the summer transfer window in order to strengthen the squad, as they aim to return to the top of English football once again and challenge for titles on a consistent basis.
Ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013, the club have struggled to match the success that they had enjoyed for decades under the Scottish manager. But there have been promising signs of progress over the past year or so.
The Red Devils currently sit at second in the Premier League table and are in a good spot in the Europa League, with a 2-0 first leg win over Granada in the quarter-final.
There are further areas that the club can improve in though and one of them appears to be their defence. And Gary Neville named Raphael Varane as the player he would bring to the club this summer if he had the chance to do so. The Manchester United legend tweeted out:

Manchester United have been linked with Varane recently
It is believed that the Real Madrid star could be on the move in the near future, with his current contract running out in the summer of 2022.
Thus, the La Liga giants might have to let him leave this summer rather than see him walk out as a free agent just a year later. And Manchester United are a club that has been heavily linked with him in recent months.
The Red Devils are expected to try and sign a new centre-back in the upcoming summer transfer window. While the partnership of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof has looked solid at the heart of defence, the likes of Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe have all been linked with exits recently.
And if the club are indeed able to sign someone of Varane’s quality, it would be seen as a major coup on the part of the club. It remains to be seen whether they can pull off a deal of that magnitude though, especially in the middle of the global pandemic.
