Bruno Fernandes has established himself as an absolute superstar ever since joining Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon back in January of last year.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 23 goals and provided 14 assists in 46 appearances this season. Incredible numbers for anyone, let alone an attacking midfielder.

His quick adjustment to the Premier League has perhaps been the most impressive thing about his time at Old Trafford till now, considering how many other great players have failed to do the same other the years. And it looks like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might have had a lot to do with that.

While speaking with talkSPORT, Fernandes revealed what Solskjaer told him at the beginning:

"“At the beginning he was important because he told me to express myself, don’t be afraid to do what I was doing at Sporting and to be myself, and that is really important for a player to feel that confidence from the coach.”"

Fernandes has been Manchester United’s best player ever since signing for the club

It goes without saying that Fernandes has been a brilliant player for the Red Devils. Before he arrived in January of last year, the club were struggling to break into the top four of the Premier League.

Ultimately, they ended up finishing third in the Premier League last season and currently sit at second in the league table. It is safe to say that he has made quite an impact ever since his move to Old Trafford and is one of the best players in the world right now.

On the other hand, while Solskjaer has had his critics over the years, it is clear that he is definitely doing a lot of things right for the team to show this kind of improvement. And it is not just Fernandes, who has thrived under the Norwegian manager. The likes of Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw are playing some of the best football of their careers this season as well.

The progress that the Red Devils have made under him is there for all to see. They are yet to win a trophy under him though and that will definitely be the next target for this team.
