Gary Neville believes Manchester United might want star back
Manchester United have had a very promising season so far under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. At this point of time, they sit at second in the Premier League table with a four point lead over third-placed Leicester City.
The ultimate aim of the club will be to return to the top of English football and as a result, they are expected to improve their squad even further. But could one of the players who will do that be out on loan right now?
Jesse Lingard has been absolutely spectacular ever since joining West Ham United on loan earlier this year. In 8 appearances this season in the league, he has scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists according to stats from the Premier League’s official website.
And Gary Neville believes that the Red Devils could want him back at Old Trafford. As reported by Sky Sports, the Manchester United legend said on Monday Night Football:
"“He’s a really good player. He’s going to have a great career. Manchester United have sent him out to West Ham to boost his career, maybe with the thought of boosting his price tag, but they might be thinking, ‘actually, we might want him back, he could be a real help to us’.”"

Could Lingard return to Manchester United in the summer?
Lingard’s contract with the Red Devils runs out in the summer of 2022. Thus, they definitely have a decision to make when it comes to the English international.
While he has certainly proven that he can get it done in the Premier League during his spell at West Ham United, will he get regular football if he does indeed return to Old Trafford. And even more importantly, is he the right fit for the kind of football that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side play?
One has to remember that he has never managed more than 8 goals in a Premier League season while playing for the Red Devils. Thus, while he might be in the form of his life at the moment, he might not be as prolific at Old Trafford.
Thus, his future could very possibly lie away from the club. Especially considering the fact that he will only have a year left on his contract at the end of this season.
