Over the past decade or so, Manchester United have made quite a few transfer mistakes. One of the biggest of them could very possibly be letting Memphis Depay leave the club after just one-and-a-half seasons at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman has managed to show his quality ever since moving to Lyon though, having scored 69 goals and provided 52 assists in 170 appearances for the French side according to stats from Transfermarkt.

He looks set to become a free agent this summer though as his contract with the Ligue 1 side runs out. And that could make him one of the most sought after free agents in all of Europe.

FC Barcelona appear to be his most likely destination and he has been linked with the La Liga giants for quite some time now. But as Manchester Evening News report, he could be a potential option for the Red Devils. And that is not hard to see why as it is very possible that the club’s top transfer priority, Erling Haaland, could remain at Borussia Dortmund while Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

Should Manchester United try to bring back Depay in the summer?

Depay is a very versatile player who Manchester United allowed to leave too early. He has since proven his quality in France though. While he was mostly used as a left-winger during his time with the Premier League giants, he operates as a centre-forward these days while also being capable of playing on the left-wing as well as an attacking midfielder.

Now, 27 years of age, the Dutchman looks set to make a big move and to be very honest, FC Barcelona looks like the club where he will ultimately end up.

But if there is a chance for the Red Devils to bring him back to Old Trafford in the summer, they should not think twice about it. He is a brilliant player who can be a huge asset to any club.
