Manchester United will be expected to strengthen in the upcoming summer transfer window. Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have improved significantly over the past year or so, the ultimate aim will be to challenge for trophies on a consistent basis, which they have not done under the Norwegian manager.

A right-winger might be high on the Red Devils’ wishlist. It is an area in which they do not possess much depth in. And one player they have been linked with for quite some time now is FC Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele.

Things have not turned as would have been expected for the Frenchman, when he signed for the La Liga giants back in 2017. Injuries have played a huge part in that. And with his contract set to run out in the summer of 2022, they could be forced to let him leave at the end of the season rather than lose him as a free agent a year later, in case they cannot agree a new deal with him.

According to Mundo Deportivo and as reported by Goal, both Manchester United and Juventus are interested in signing him this summer while Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keeping tabs.

Dembele has managed to turn things around this season

The talent has never been in question when it comes to Dembele. But a series of injuries have meant that he has spent a lot of time out of action during the course of his FC Barcelona career.

It does look like he has managed to put some of those injury issues behind him recently though and is a big part of Ronald Koeman’s plans right now. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the Frenchman has made 35 appearances this season, scoring 9 goals and providing 4 assists.

While the Spanish giants appear keen on extending his stay at Camp Nou, failing to agree to a new deal could mean that they might allow him to leave this summer. And if the opportunity is there to sign a player of his quality, the Red Devils should definitely try to bring him to Old Trafford.
