It is safe to say that Manchester United have had their fair share of struggles in front of goal in recent weeks. While the defence has looked solid for the most part, goals have been hard to come by.

A huge reason for this is Anthony Martial struggling for form. It was only last season that it had looked like the Frenchman was the long-term solution at striker for the Red Devils. He was the club’s top scorer with 23 goals. But he has failed to match those high standards this season, scoring only 7 goals in 36 appearances.

On the other hand, Edinson Cavani has looked like their most lethal striker when on the pitch. But his recent injuries have kept him on the sidelines for a considerable length of time.

The Uruguayan is also being linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season. And as reported by Football Insider, he is willing to take a massive pay cut on his current deal in order to join Argentine giants Boca Juniors.

Cavani leaving would be a blow to Manchester United

Even at 34 years of age, Cavani has shown that he can make an impact in the Premier League and is averaging a goal every 153 minutes in the English top flight. And although he might no longer be a regular starter, he is a brilliant back-up option to have for any team.

Thus, him leaving would be a massive blow for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, especially considering the fact that they have struggled for goals this season.

As a result, one can expect the club to bring in a new striker in the summer transfer window. And a couple of massive names in the form of Harry Kane and Erling Haaland have been linked with the club in recent months. Thus, it promises to be a very interesting summer for the Red Devils.
