Manchester United have had their fair share of injury worries in recent weeks. Most of them have involved players up front.

Both Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani have spent time on the sidelines recently. And it looks like that could continue with the Frenchman being forced off the pitch after suffering an injury while playing for France against Kazakhstan.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Martial fell awkwardly under a challenge. He received lengthy treatment on the pitch and tried to continue but was ultimately substituted off in the 59th minute of the game with a knee problem.

Naturally, this will be a worry for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whose side have lacked options upfront in recent weeks and have struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis as well. Thus, the Frenchman’s injury will be a blow to them despite his lack of form this season.

Manchester United need to keep up pace in the Premier League

After being knocked out of the FA Cup by Leicester City, the Red Devils now have only two competitions to fight for. One of them is the Europa League, where they will take on Granada in the quarter-finals. The other is of course, the Premier League.

Manchester United find themselves in a strong position at this point of time, currently sitting at second in the table. But we know how quickly things can change in the Premier League.

Leicester City sit at third, just a point behind while Chelsea are in fourth, six points behind the Red Devils. West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Everton are all in contention for a top four spot as well.

Thus, Solskjaer’s side will need to finish the season strong. Otherwise, they could end up in the middle of a top four race. On the other hand, there is also the possibility of a title charge if Manchester City slip up.
