Manchester United have made some incredible progress over the past couple of seasons under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. When the Norwegian manager arrived in the middle of the 2018/19 campaign, the club were struggling to break into the top four in the Premier League table.
After steadying the ship, he managed to guide them to a third place finish in his first full season in charge of the club and it looks like they have taken another step in the right direction this season, currently sitting at second in the Premier League table.
The ultimate aim of the club would be return to competing for trophies on a consistent basis though, something that they have not done ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013. As a result, they are expected to strengthen further in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Spanish outlet AS and as reported by The Sun, the Red Devils want to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente and have already made a massive €80 million offer for him.

Manchester United reportedly want the Atletico Madrid star
Llorente is enjoying a brilliant season at the moment. He has scored 10 goals and provided 9 assists as well in just 36 appearances this season from midfield. Those are impressive numbers. And it looks like he has managed to catch the eye of the Red Devils.
Signing Llorente would make a lot of sense for Manchester United if Paul Pogba ends up leaving the club in the summer, as many expect him to.
But then, you have to wonder what such a move means for Donny van de Beek, who has failed to make his mark at Old Trafford ever since his move from Ajax last summer. The Dutchman arrived with a big reputation but has spent most of his time on the bench.
Many believed that Pogba leaving could see him break into the first-team. But if the club end up signing Llorente, it will probably see Van de Beek fall further down the pecking order.
