Despite having a great season till now, which sees them sit at second in the Premier League table, Manchester United are expected to strengthen further in the upcoming transfer window as they aim to return to the top of English football.
One man who continues to be linked with a return to the club is Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar had a brilliant spell at Old Trafford before moving to Real Madrid and then Juventus.
There has always been a desire among fans to see him back at the club. But at 36 years of age, would the Red Devils decide to go after him?
It appears that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would love the idea of having him in his squad though. As reported by Manchester United’s official website, when asked about which club legend he would want to have in his current squad, the manager said:
"“There’s a few players I’ve played with that I’d love to have in my team, of course. I’d love the player Roy Keane, I’m not sure if I could manage him though. I’d sign him every day of the week, Roy was so influential but then again, I played with Cristiano [Ronaldo] and he’s been the best player in the world alongside Messi for the past 10-15 years now, so Cristiano. You’d take him in your team, for sure.”"

Could Ronaldo finally make a return to Manchester United?
When Juventus signed Ronaldo back in 2018, the aim surely was to win the UEFA Champions League. In that regard, the move has not been a success.
The Italian giants have been eliminated by Ajax, Lyon and FC Porto from the competition in Ronaldo’s three seasons at the club till now. And it is very possible that they could try to find him a new club in the summer, with his contract running out just a year later.
Ronaldo’s individual record with the club has been superb though. In 121 appearances, he has 92 goals and 22 assists to his name, proving that he is still an asset on the pitch to any team on the planet.
As a result, if the opportunity was there for Manchester United to sign the Portuguese legend in the summer, they should definitely think about it. Especially with their struggles to find the back of the net on a consistent basis in recent weeks.
