Mason Greenwood is one of the most, if not the most, highly rated youngsters that has come through Manchester United’s academy in recent years. And it is not hard to see why.
He had an incredible breakthrough season in senior football in 2019/2020, when he scored 17 goals in all competitions. He has found things a bit tougher this time around though and has just 4 goals to his name in this campaign till now.
But that is natural for a player who is still just 19 years of age and has a lot of development left to do. And it is clear that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rates him very highly, which is a great sign for his future at Old Trafford.
When asked about which player reminded him of himself as a player, the manager mentioned Greenwood. As reported by Manchester United’s official site, the Norwegian said:
"“I’d like to think that Mason is the one who reminds me about myself the most, as a finisher and goalscorer. We should have had a competition me and him to see who is the most accurate finisher!”"

Greenwood can be a great player for Manchester United for years to come
The Englishman certainly has the world of potential and it is about whether he can use his talents to ultimately reach that potential.
If he has a career like Solskjaer, Manchester United fans should be absolutely delighted. After all, the Norwegian scored 126 goals and provided 50 assists for the Red Devils in 365 appearances. Along with that, he also won a Champions League, 6 Premier League titles, 2 FA Cups, 2 Community Shields and the Intercontinental Cup on one occasion as well.
If Greenwood is able to match those statistics, both individual and in a team, he would have had a brilliant career and will go down as a club legend.
It is clear that the sky is the limit for the Englishman and he will get the support of the manager when it comes to fulfilling his potential as a player. Now, it is up to him to make the best out of the opportunity.
