Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday was almost perfect for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. The result managed to reduce the gap between the two sides to 11 points.

Although it will still be a tough task to win the Premier League from here, with Pep Guardiola’s side needing 17 points from their last 9 games to guarantee themselves the title, at least it keeps the Red Devils’ hopes alive and the win will give them a lot of confidence, as they are still competing in two other cup competitions as well.

One massive negative from the game was the injury suffered by Marcus Rashford, who had to be brought off in the second half.

There were fears that he could be out for a long time but the Englishman managed to avoid serious injury. Even then, he looks set to miss the next couple of games. While speaking with Manchester United’s official website, Solskjaer said:

"“He’s still getting treatment but he didn’t join in the training today. Even though normally I’m a very optimistic guy, I still think he’s going to be out tomorrow night and a doubt for the weekend.”"

Rashford could be a massive miss for Manchester United

The next two games are very important for the Red Devils’ season. They will be taking on AC Milan in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16 tie tonight before facing an in-form West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.

While the Europa League is a great opportunity for Solskjaer to win his first trophy as Manchester United manager, it is important to win the West Ham United game as well in order to keep the momentum going. Otherwise, they might very well be caught up in a battle for the top four with a number of teams in the running to secure Champions League football next season.

Rashford has been a very important part of this team for quite some time now and possesses a goal threat that not many other players do. Let’s just hope that he recovers from his injury as soon as possible.
