It looked like Manchester United were going to come out with a huge win against AC Milan thanks to Amad’s brilliant goal after coming on as a substitute. But a late equalizer from Simon Kjaer means that both the sides have it all to play for when they meet again in the second leg of the Round of 16 tie.

Ultimately though, it was probably the fair result. AC Milan started the game brilliantly and were very unlucky not to have scored in the first-half.

The Red Devils came back into the game though, like they have done so many times already this season after making slow starts.

This means that it will all be decided in the second leg at San Siro. And Manchester United will be going into that game knowing that they will have to score in order to stay in the Europa League, meaning a goalless draw will not be enough on that occasion.

Manchester United Player Ratings vs AC Milan

Here’s how we rated the Manchester United players as they managed a 1-1 draw vs AC Milan in the first leg of the Round of 16 Europa League tie:

Dean Henderson – 6

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6

Eric Bailly – 7.5

Harry Maguire – 5

Alex Telles – 5.5

Scott McTominay – 6

Nemanja Matic – 5

Mason Greenwood – 5.5

Bruno Fernandes – 7

Daniel James – 5.5

Anthony Martial – 5.5

Substitutes

Amad – 7

Luke Shaw – 6

Brandon Williams – 5.5

Manchester United will surely be disappointed not to have come out with the win on the night. But at the end of the day, they were not at the top of their game and still did not get beaten, which is not a terrible result after all.

And after how great their away form has been this season, they should be confident going to the San Siro for the second leg of the tie. Although, the Italian giants are capable of beating any team on their day.
