Manchester United have made a lot of progress since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as manager of the club a couple of seasons back and currently sit at second in the Premier League table. That does not mean that there are no areas where they could improve in.
One of those positions is striker. After scoring 23 goals last season, Anthony Martial has failed to pick up where he left off and has managed to score just 7 goals this season. On the other hand, Edinson Cavani is already being linked with a move away from the club despite arriving last summer.
As a result, the club could go after a striker next summer. And one man who has been continuously linked with them is Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland.
It is not hard to see why every club in the world would want a player of his quality. He scored his 20th Champions League goal last night, going past Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tally in the process. And the manager had only praise for his Norwegian compatriot. As reported by Manchester United’s official website, he said:
"“It was just a matter of time before he scored more goals than me in the Champions League. But at the age of 20, to score as many goals as he has is fantastic. There aren’t many more superlatives that anyone can use. Whatever I want to say to him, I will say in Norwegian directly to him.”"

Signing Haaland would be massive for Manchester United
Haaland already has an existing relationship with Solskjaer, as he played under him during their time at Molde. Thus, the manager has closely seen his development and would naturally be keen to be reunited with him.
Haaland has been absolutely magnificent over the past few years and his rise has been meteoric. His record of 20 goals in 14 Champions League appearances speaks for itself. Thus, it goes without saying that signing a player of his quality would be a massive coup on the part of Manchester United.
It would not be easy though as some of the biggest clubs in Europe are believed to be after Haaland’s signature as well. And if he was to leave in the summer, Borussia Dortmund are likely to demand a transfer fee north of €100 million.
