Manchester United raised quite a few eyebrows when they brought Dean Henderson back from his two-season long loan spell at Sheffield United, only for him to sit on the bench for the majority of the first half of the season.

David de Gea had made quite a few errors over the last two seasons, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen to see him rectifying those errors and get back to his best. Perhaps, that was the thinking behind bringing back Henderson – to give the Spaniard a push.

In the 2020-21 season, he hasn’t made that many notable mistakes but surely has been tested by the rapid emergence of Henderson behind him. As a result, it would not come as a surprise if one of them ends up leaving in the summer. And that guy could end up being De Gea after all.

As reported by The Sun, Paris Saint-Germain are keeping track of his situation at United and could make an ambitious move in the summer. And at the end of the day, the French giants are one of the few clubs in the world who can match the wages that the Spaniard currently earns at Old Trafford.

Manchester United already have a David de Gea replacement

Having returned to Spain to attend the birth of his first child, De Gea is currently unavailable to play for the Red Devils.

But assuring that he will be given the time away that he needs, manager Solskjaer heaped praise on Henderson, affirming that the Englishman is ready to play in the first-team in the absence of the Spaniard.

As reported by Four Four Two, Solskjaer said:

"“Dean came in and played well and he’s ready, so I’ll give David the time he needs of course.”"

Henderson has made 15 appearances for Manchester United this season, keeping 10 clean sheets in all competitions.

Signed from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 for £18.9 million, De Gea, has a contract with the Red Devils until June 2023.
