Manchester United are seemingly experiencing gradual progression under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the incredible 2-0 victory over Manchester City being a great example of it.

However, the triumph came without any of the club’s latest summer signings on the pitch. Of course, injuries had a part to play in that regard but the fact of the matter is, other than Edinson Cavani, none of them have been getting a lot of playing time lately.

The last summer transfer window itself was complicated as the Red Devils were unable sign their main targets, with the financial impact of the global pandemic playing a huge part in that.

United were heavily linked with Jadon Sancho. After weeks of negotiations with Borussia Dortmund, they decided against meeting the Bundesliga side’s reported €120 million transfer fee demand. And therefore, a deal never materialised

There were several other candidates Manchester United reportedly seemed to be interested in while looking to fill that long-vacant right-wing position. Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman was one of the names on that list.

Manchester United are still keen on signing a right-winger next summer

According to German outlet Kicker, Coman has refused the first contract extension offer proposed by the reigning Champions League holders.

Manchester United’s interest in the 24-year-old Frenchman appears to be still there. And thus, this could put them on red alert.

Coman has made 27 appearances for Bayern Munich this season, scoring 6 goals and providing 13 assists. He played an integral part in last season’s Champions League final as well, scoring the decisive goal that help the Bundesliga giants lift the trophy as the game ended 1-0.

And although he has reportedly rejected the first offer, that does not mean he will not remain with the German champions. But if somehow he decides to move on to pastures new, Manchester United should look to bring him to Old Trafford.
