Manchester United star has decided to leave at the end of the season
Manchester United are in need of a striker who can score for them on a consistent basis at the moment. Anthony Martial has failed to pick up from where he left off last season, when he scored 23 goals and was the club’s top goalscorer.
This time around, he has managed just 7 goals in 34 appearances. And he will have to improve greatly, if the Red Devils are to lift trophies this season.
Edinson Cavani has proved to be great cover for the Frenchman though. Despite being 34 years of age, he still is a very potent goalscorer. And although he is not a long-term solution to the club’s problems up top, for now, he is a brilliant option to have.
When fit, it is arguable that he is the first-choice striker for Solskjaer on current form. That might not be the case for long though. According to Ole and as reported by Metro, the Uruguayan appears to have decided to leave the club at the end of the season and join Boca Juniors.

Cavani leaving would be a huge blow for Manchester United
Cavani has done very well for the Red Devils whenever on the pitch. He possesses a goal threat that not many others in the current side do. Thus, him leaving would be a huge blow for Solskjaer’s side.
But at the end of the day, it looks like the Uruguayan has always dreamed of playing for Boca Juniors, as the rumours refuse to go away. In fact, he is reportedly even ready to take a huge cut on his wages to move to the Argentine side.
There is the option to extend his contract with Manchester United for another season. But that clause won’t be activated automatically and thus, if he does indeed want to leave, it won’t stop him from completing his move.
Ultimately, Cavani is in the twilight of his storied career. If this is his dream and he wants to leave, it is completely understandable.
