Manchester United put in an incredible performance to come out with a 2-0 away win against Manchester City. Goals from Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw at the early stages of each half were enough to seal all three points for the Red Devils.
Going into the game, most people would have expected Pep Guardiola’s side to win. The Citizens were in incredible form, winning one game after the other while the Red Devils have had their struggles in recent months and were coming off of three goalless draws on the trot.
Every game is unique in itself though and form often goes out of the window in these big games. And that is exactly what happened here as well. As things stand, City still have a formidable 11 point lead at the top of the table with 10 games to go. But at least this result will give Solskjaer’s side hope that they can catch up to their rivals.
One negative for United coming out of this game was the injury suffered by Marcus Rashford. The forward had made his mark on the game already by providing an assist but had to subbed off in the 73rd minute after suffering an injury.

The Manchester United star appears to have suffered an ankle injury
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provided an update regarding the injury after the game. As reported by the Mirror, the manager said:
"“I don’t know. It’s something with his ankle.“When he sprinted 70 yards to save a goal, it showed the attitude of the boy.“I think he went over on his ankle but we need to do a scan, I’ve not had time to speak to the doctor yet.”"
Fans will be hoping that it is not a serious issue and Rashford is back on the pitch as soon as possible. Although his recent displays have attracted some criticism, it is undeniable that he is a massive part of this team and someone who they will need if they indeed want to challenge for the Premier League title in case Manchester City do indeed slip up.
We would like to extend our best wishes to Rashford and hope he has a speedy recovery.
