Manchester United have the fourth-youngest squad in the Premier League, with the Red Devils currently recording an average age of 25.7 years, only behind Aston Villa (25.1), Fulham (25.3), Wolves (25.6), and Brighton (25.6).

Those numbers clearly show how much Ole Gunnar Solskjaer relies on the productivity of the club’s youngsters. And a large part of those players have come through the illustrious Manchester United academy.

Fans are no strangers to the heroics of Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams, and the recent yet promising addition of Shola Shoretire. And it suggests that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is clearly ready to give youth a chance at Old Trafford. But soon, the academy might see four of their players depart.

A report from Manchester Evening News understands that four United academy players in Paul Woolston, Arnau Puigmal, Max Taylor and Connor Stanley look set to leave the club next summer when their contracts come to an end.

Manchester United could be set to lose four of their academy stars next summer

Signed from Newcastle United in 2018, Woolston has not been a regular starter for the under-23s this season. And hence, the 22-year-old could be headed for the exit in the summer.

Taylor signed a one-year extension with the club last May. However, as things stand, he is likely to be a free agent next June.

Arnau Puigmal, 20, is often considered one of the best midfielders for Neil Wood’s under-23s side. Having made 12 appearances across Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy, the Spaniard has scored 7 goals and racked up 3 assists. While his performances show his potential, he might leave in search of first-team opportunities.

Both Taylor and Puigmal made United’s away trip to Astana in the Europa League last season but did not make an appearance. And they could be joined by Connor Stanley out of the exit door, as his current deal also expires at the same time.
