Ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the manager at Manchester United, the club has seen the rapid emergence of several youngsters. The likes of Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams and Shola Shoretire are in and around the first-team at the moment as the future looks bright for the academy stars.

In the last summer transfer window, the Red Devils were interested in bringing in a winger who could occupy the right-wing spot. Having spent all summer in the failed pursuit of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, they went on to sign two youngsters on deadline day.

They were Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri, as it became clear that the club were not only looking at youngsters in their own academy but around the world.

And having spent half a season around the senior squad and the under-23s of Manchester United, Pellistri joined Alaves on loan for the remainder of the 2020-21 campaign. The purpose of this loan deal is to get him some first-team experience so that he is ready to make his mark at Old Trafford in the future. However, the Uruguayan has revealed that he was hoping to spend a “a little more time” in Manchester.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Pellistri said:

"“I am very happy despite the rapid changes, faster than I imagined. I was hoping to have a little more time in Manchester, but on the club’s side they have organised what to do with each player.”"

United paid a transfer fee of around £9 million to sign the winger from Penarol, as he signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils.

Prior to joining Alaves, Pellistri garnered eight appearances (six in Premier League 2 and two in the EFL Trophy) for Manchester United under-23s, amassing three goals and an assist. But unfortunately, he could not be handed his senior debut before heading out on loan.

For Alaves, he has made two La Liga appearances, both as a substitute. And sitting currently on 18th in the La Liga, the Spanish club would be hoping he can make his mark at the club and quickly.

On the other hand, doing well at Alaves would go a long way for Pellistri as well and could open doors to the Manchester United senior squad when he returns.
