Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world. The competition is very high as well though and not many manage to make it Old Trafford despite having a lot of talent.

That appears to have been the case with Andreas Pereira, who was one of the most highly-rated players while coming through the club’s academy but failed to establish in the first-team. As a result, he is currently away on loan at Lazio.

But the attacking midfielder has had a tough time in Italy as well. In 21 appearances this season in all competitions, he has managed to score just a single goal and provide a couple of assists. Thus, it is would not be surprising if he is back at Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Lazio reportedly do have the option to sign him on a permanent basis for a transfer fee of €25 million at the end of the loan spell, but as reported by the Daily Star, it seems like they do not want to pay that fee for Pereira.

Manchester United might have to find Pereira a new club next summer

Despite having a lot of potential, Pereira has failed to reach it at the senior level. And when he returns from stint at Lazio, it is unlikely that he will be in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team plans.

Thus, another loan spell away from Old Trafford looks like the best possible solution if the Red Devils fail to find a club who want to sign him on a permanent basis. And that will be tough after the season that he has had in Serie A till now although there is still time to turn things around and make an impression.

Pereira’s contract with Manchester United runs out in 2023 and as a result, he will have a couple of years left on his deal in the summer. As a result, there is also the possibility that the club could end up losing him for free in the future if he does not find his feet over the next year or so.
