At a club like Manchester United, transfer rumours are non stop. And one of the recent ones have been surrounding the signing of a playmaker, with there being a good chance that Paul Pogba might end up leaving in the summer although recently there have been positive updates in that respect.
One man who has been linked with a potential switch to Old Trafford in the summer is AC Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu.
The Turkish playmaker’s contract with the Italian giants is set to expire at the end of this campaign and till now, he has not put pen to paper on a new deal. And it had appeared that if he did end up leaving San Siro, Manchester United were the favourites to land him.
But now it looks there is a chance that he might end up staying at his current club. With just a few months left till the end of the season, the two parties are discussing a new deal now, as reported by highly reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano:

Calhanoglu could be a good signing for Manchester United
The Turkish midfield has been in very good form this season. In 30 appearances for AC Milan in 2020/21, he has scored 6 goals and provided 11 assists.
Those are impressive statistics indeed and it is not hard to see why the Red Devils would want to bring him to Old Trafford, especially if he was available on a free transfer.
But at the moment, it does look like there is a possibility that he might end up staying at San Siro, although a deal has not been done yet. And if Pogba ends up leaving as well, United could be left scrambling for replacements in the summer.
There are very players in the world with the ability to replace Pogba. Calhanoglu is one of them.
