Manchester United have always been the home for Premier League legends. From Ryan Giggs to Cristiano Ronaldo, from Eric Cantona to Nemanja Vidic, the list is huge. But not many arrive at Old Trafford with the pedigree Juan Mata had while joining the Red Devils in January 2014.

A former Chelsea superstar, Juan Mata made a permanent switch from London to Manchester that cost the latter a reasonable transfer fee of £37.1 million. And so far, his tenure at Old Trafford has been productive if not incredible.

The Spaniard has helped the giants of English football win FA Cup, EFL Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Europa League, having garnered 50 goals and 47 assists from 267 games.

However, the fresh reports from English media have suggested that the ongoing 2020-21 campaign might be his last at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.

A number of clubs want the Manchester United veteran

According to The Sun, Juan Mata is set to leave Manchester United for free at the end of the current campaign, with his contract running out in June 2021. United have an option to extend his stay for a further year. But as yet, nothing has happened in regard to that additional option.

The reports also understand that Juventus, Roma and Inter Milan are the clubs most interested in the 32-year-old playmaker. While the story also claims that clubs from the Middle East are preparing a lucrative deal for Mata, several suitors are present in Spain as well.

As previously reported, Juan Mata was offered a humongous offer from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club in the last summer transfer window. However, the veteran eventually chose to reject the offer and stay put at Manchester.

This season, Mata has not played much but has been effective nonetheless. He has made 12 appearances (665 minutes) in total for the Red Devils in the 2020-21 campaign, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists.

The Red Devils are competing for the FA Cup, Europa League, and hopefully the Premier League. Should Mata leave Manchester after seven years of his loyal service, it would be great for him to bid farewell with another piece of silverware.
