David Beckham has responded to his record being equalised by Manchester United’s number 10 Marcus Rashford and expects that the 23-year old will surpass the mark in no time. The Englishman has piled up around 85 goals for the club tallying Beckham’s record and already has 18 goals this season which is just 4 goals shy of his personal best in a season.
Fans are now excited to see more of the Englishman. At just 23 years of age he has achieved a whole lot for the club on the field as well as for his country off it. His social work has earned him plaudits from all over the world and rightfully so.
And in celebration of scoring his 85th goal for the Red Devils, Manchester United congratulated the Englishman on Instagram where one of the comments was that of club legend, David Beckham, who joked that he had not realised he had scored that many goals and has claimed that Rashford won’t be sitting at that number for long.
According to Manchester Evening News, Beckham’s commented on the club’s congratulatory Instagram post:
"“Not sure we will be on the same number for long @MarcusRashford.“Didn’t realise I’d scored that many!”"

Rashford has been prolific for Manchester United this season
It was the match against Newcastle United that allowed Rashford to equal Beckham’s goal tally at the club, as the Red Devils secured a 3-1 win with Daniel James and Bruno Fernandes scoring in the 57th and 75th minute of the game. In response to the legend’s comment on the congratulatory post, Rashford took to Twitter and posted the following:
"“Joined some great company tonight, matching Becks record.“Happy Sunday everyone.”"
Now even with a win over The Magpies, it looks like the hopes of lifting the Premier League title is slowing fading away as United have fallen 10 points behind rivals Manchester City who have been consistently winning their games while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have endured an underwhelming run of results in the past month or so.
But if United keep putting in such performances in their upcoming fixtures there might just be a chance of Pep Guardiola’s side slipping and the Red Devils catching up to them.
