Manchester United set to be offered Edinson Cavani replacement

Manchester United might not have made a lot of signings in the previous summer transfer window, but the arrival of Edinson Cavani on a free transfer after being allowed to leave by Paris Saint-Germain was certainly an inspired one.

With Anthony Martial struggling to find his scoring boots, the Uruguayan has become very important to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The veteran can be depended upon to always put in a good shift even when he does not find the back of the net. And that is something that most managers want from their players.

But the fact of the matter is that he is 34 years of age and probably does not have too many years of top level football left in him. On top of that, the Uruguayan has been linked with a future move to Boca Juniors as well.

As a result, it should not come as a surprise if the club and the player end up parting ways after just one season together. In that case though, United will not have too tough of a time finding a replacement because Eintracht Frankfurt could reportedly be set to offer them the chance to sign Andre Silva, according to The Sun.

Andre Silva might be a huge hit at Manchester United

After a mediocre spell at AC Milan, Silva has been in incredible form ever since joining Eintracht Frankfurt. The Portuguese striker has 18 goals in the Bundesliga this season, only behind Robert Lewandowski.

And he could be available for just £30 million, which is a bargain when you consider the current state of the transfer market and the kind of form that he has been in recently. But the Bundesliga side need funds to bring back Luka Jovic from Real Madrid, which could lead to Silva’s transfer away.

Any move to Manchester United will depend on Edinson Cavani’s future at the club though. If the Uruguayan does indeed end up leaving come the end of the season, then a move for Silva might very well be on the cards for the Red Devils. And to be very honest, he could prove be an excellent replacement and a star for years to come depending on how he adjusts to life in the Premier League.
