During his two-year loan spell at Sheffield United, Dean Henderson established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League. His return to Manchester United in the summer has not gone as well as he would have hoped though.

The 23-year-old English keeper has found it difficult to break into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team, with David de Gea being the number one at the moment. While the Spaniard has not been at his best for quite some time, he continues to retain his place in the team, leaving Henderson on the bench.

As a result, it looks like he might be looking for a move away from the club in the upcoming summer transfer window if he is not the first-choice by then, as reported by Manchester Evening News.

There won’t be a lack of suitors if that does happen, with Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Chelsea all reportedly interested. And according to the Express, the club currently value him at £40 million.

Clubs will have to shell out £40 million if they want to sign the Manchester United keeper

That is a high transfer fee, especially for a goalkeeper. And it will make him one of the most expensive keepers in history.

Henderson is a proven player in the Premier League, which is what makes him an attractive option for clubs around the country but it will be interesting to see whether they are willing to shell out that kind of money for a keeper who is second choice at the moment.

Of course, ultimately the ball is in Manchester United’s court. Henderson signed a new contract at the start of the season which is set to keep him at the club till the summer of 2025 and as a result, they won’t be in any hurry to let the player unless a club meets their transfer valuation for him.

Let’s just hope that it does not come to that though. Henderson is a very talented player and one that the Red Devils could regret losing in the future.
