When compared to the teams around them, Manchester United have been quite lucky when it comes to the injury department. While the Red Devils have had their fair share of injuries, it has not been as bad as some of their direct rivals for the title.

Just take a look at Liverpool for example. Jurgen Klopp’s side have been hit with a series of injuries this season which has clearly affected them and their performances have gone down drastically. As a result, a team that looked unstoppable just a few months ago, now look like a mere shell of that version and are most probably out of the title race already despite it being just February.

The same could have been said about Manchester City, who have suffered a number of injuries as well. But to be fair to them, they have done incredibly well under the circumstances and are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table with a massive 10 point lead.

The Red Devils on the other hand are starting to suffer from injury woes as well and could be without four players when they take on Newcastle United. As reported by the Daily Star, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had said earlier in the week:

"“It’s still a few weeks until we see Paul, definitely.“Donny and Edinson are injured unfortunately, muscle injuries, so they won’t travel.“Apart from that, we have a couple of doubtful ones, if they’ll be fit enough – Anthony [Martial] and Scott [McTominay].”"

Manchester United need their squad to be fit and in form

Martial and McTominay did go on to feature against Real Sociedad as well. As a result, they do not seem to be worries at the moment. But the same cannot be said about the likes of Pogba, Van de Beek and Cavani, and it will be interesting to see when they come back. On top of that, there is Phil Jones, who has been out for months now.

Even then, after their 4-0 win over Real Sociedad in the Europa League, you would have to feel that Manchester United have enough in the tank to get past Newcastle United, who have been hovering over the relegation zone.

This could end up being a problem in the long run though if the injuries start to pile up. The Red Devils still have three trophies to play for and they need as much as depth as possible in order to get through a tough schedule of games.
