Manchester United made a splendid start to their Premier League season and not too long ago, they are at the top of the table. Things have not gone their way since then though.
Over their past seven league games, they have won just two, drawn four and lost one, which means that they have dropped 11 out of the last 21 points. That is a very damaging run for any team with title aspirations and has seen them fall 7 points behind Manchester City, who also have a game in hand.
Now, while Pep Guardiola’s side are definitely in the driver’s seat right now, if this season has taught us anything, it is that things can change very quickly. Not too long ago, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea were fighting for the top spot while the two Manchester sides were in mid-table.
Thus, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not given up on the title yet, which is absolutely the right step with almost 40% of the league yet to be played. As reported by the Express, the Manchester United boss said:
"“No, I don’t think so. I think no one will give it away this early.“Of course no one knows this season, it’s so unpredictable, life is so unpredictable. Anything can happen.“Of course we’re not going to settle for second, of course we’re not.”"

Manchester United might be the underdogs again, which is good news
One can argue that Solskjaer’s side are at their best when they have their backs against the wall. Just think about how many times he was on the verge of getting the sack for them to put in a spectacular performance and rescue the situation.
At this point of time, they might be the underdogs once again, which will suit them very well. It was only when they got to the top of the table that their results started to take a downturn, which is a worrying sign in the long run since you have to be able to perform under pressure if you want to win titles.
For now though, the Red Devils must concentrate on the games coming their way. They have two very important Europa League ties against Real Sociedad as well as Premier League games against Chelsea and Manchester City over the next few weeks. Win them and the season will be back on track. Lose them and it will be a huge mountain to climb.
