Manchester United suffered another massive blow in their quest to life the Premier League title come May after only managing a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion away from home. This result means that they have dropped 5 out of 6 points against the bottom two over the past few weeks.

On the other hand, Manchester City have looked brilliant despite the number of injuries that they have had to deal with through the course of the season, which will be worrying for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as well.

Mbaye Diagne gave the hosts the lead in the second minute but even then, most United would have been expecting the Red Devils to turn it around, like they have done so many times this season. But that was not to be. Bruno Fernandes managed to equalise just before the break but the Red Devils could not find the second as the teams had to share the points at the final whistle.

This leaves Solskjaer’s side 7 points behind their crosstown rivals and level on points with Leicester City.

Here’s how we rated the Manchester United players in their 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion:

David de Gea – 7.5

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6.5

Harry Maguire – 4

Victor Lindelof – 4.5

Luke Shaw – 7.5

Scott McTominay – 5.5

Fred – 5

Bruno Fernandes – 6.5

Marcus Rashford – 5

Edinson Cavani – 5

Anthony Martial – 4

Substitutes

Mason Greenwood – 6

Donny van de Beek – 5

Clearly, this was not the best performance from Manchester United as an unit. There were disappointing performances all around the pitch. Only De Gea and Shaw could leave the field with their heads held high. And if things had gone West Bromwich Albion’s way, they might have even walked out with all three points on the day.

Now, the important thing for the Red Devils will be to put this performance in their rear-view mirror as quickly as possible and try to get a big win when they take on Real Sociedad in the Europa League in midweek.
