It is safe to say that Mason Greenwood has not made the start to the season that many fans would have expected him to. 2019/2020 had appeared to be breakout campaign for the youngster as he put himself on the map by scoring 17 goals for Manchester United, including 10 in the Premier League.
He appears to have taken a step backward this season though, having found the back of the net just 4 times in 28 appearances till now, with only one of them being in the league. That is not good enough for a player who has been described as one of the most natural finishers the club has ever produced.
It is easy to forget though that he is still just 19 years of age and there will be growing pains. On top of that, he is playing mostly on the right-wing at the moment although his long-term future probably lies in the middle.
Understandably, United appear to have complete faith in Greenwood and their only concern with him is to not stifle him at this stage of his career, as reported by Express.

Manchester United must allow Mason Greenwood the time to grow
To be very honest, Greenwood probably overachieved last season, which is one of the biggest reason why so many had such expectations of him this season.
The fact of the matter is that he is still a teenager who will need to time to make the jump from the youth leagues to the Premier League. That is how it works for every player and Greenwood is no different, although he might be a better prospect than the average player.
It is important to not put too much pressure on him to perform week in and week out. That is probably the only thing that will stifle his development at this point of his career.
There have been positive signs in recent weeks already as it looks like Greenwood is rediscovering his form and hopefully the goals will follow soon as well.
