In the light of recent events happening at Manchester United, Solskjaer seems to have dropped a hint towards a new contract for Paul Pogba as the Frenchman continues to have a huge impact at the club as an attacking midfielder and has put in some outstanding performances recently.

After Mino Raiola’s comments about Pogba being unhappy at the club earlier in the season, the news had been flooded with people speculating his future at Old Trafford and links with a return to Juventus kept surfacing, indicating that a swap deal involving the French international and Christiano Ronaldo or Paulo Dybala might very well be on the cards in the future.

Pogba is arguably in his best form since his move to Old Trafford from Juventus five years ago, scoring winners against Fulham and Burnley, which even earned him the club’s player of the month award in January.

His contract expires in the summer of 2022 and it seems like Solskjaer might be hoping to keep him around for a few more years at least, based on his current form.

Pogba should remain at Manchester United after their form this season

Solskjaer has stated that a good open dialogue is in place with the Frenchman as reported by the Mirror:

"‘Speculation about Paul is always going to be there. We’ve got a good, open dialogue with Paul, but what we talk about and how we see that situation remains between us,‘I’m just happy he’s focused, that he’s playing really well and that he’s happy within himself. That’s important – you can see Paul enjoying football himself with a red shirt on.‘Our conversations remain private, of course. But Paul is a Man United player through and through.’"

Although nothing can be confirmed as of now considering that the club does not intent to reveal any of the conversation that is taking place with Pogba’s agent right now but fans can hope for the best.

As of now, Manchester United must focus on the Premier League title race and being crown champions of England come May. Pogba made it clear in his performances against Fulham and Burnley that United need a player like him alongside Bruno Fernandes to be a fearsome attacking unit in the final third of the pitch.

On the other hand, leaving the club right now might not be the best option for Pogba either. He must consider the drastic improvement that the club have shown in recent months, transforming into title favourites. And with the right kind of investment in the summer, they could be one of the most exciting teams in Europe.

Is the grass actually greener on the other side for Pogba? Neither Real Madrid nor Juventus are doing very well this season. And their squads are aging, unlike the Red Devils. Thus, remaining at Old Trafford could provide him with the best chance of lifting trophies.

With less than a year left on his contract at the end of this campaign, the ball is in his court. And he needs to make a decision. Hopefully he chooses to remain a Manchester United player.
