Manchester United suffered a massive in their chase for the Premier League title as they could only manage a 3-3 draw at home against Everton, despite leading 2-0 at half-time and they even conceded in the 95th minute of the game.
This result means that Manchester City will have the chance to go well clear of the Red Devils if they can beat Liverpool tonight. But even if they fail to do so, it does not change the fact that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side squandered the chance to gain some ground on their rivals.
And it cannot be denied that it was bad display on the defensive end of the pitch, to give away three goals in the second half despite fielding a very strong side on the night. While many will point out how the club should have recruited a centre-back in the January transfer window.
Gary Neville believes that the lion’s share of the blame should fall on the shoulders of David de Gea for last night’s draw, as he was seeming at fault for two of the three goals that they conceded.
Does Dean Henderson deserve to play more for Manchester United?
As reported by the Express, the Manchester United legend said after the game:
"“David de Gea, there, at the end. He doesn’t even come in line with the ball.“I think you want goalkeeper to come, as Jamie said there, and eat the striker. You just want your goalkeeper to come out there and absolutely take him out.”"
He also blamed the keeper for Everton’s first goal, which was scored by Abdoulaye Doucoure, early in the second half:
"“There have been some awful performances in parts of games.“Tonight they put in one of their better performances but in moments defensively they were really bad.“David De Gea, there [the first Everton goal], so weak.“The parry out into the box – it’s not good enough, they’re not clearing their lines.“Luke Shaw not sprinting out to the corner as quick as he can do, Fred not making it.”"

De Gea’s place in the team has been questioned for quite some time now. He made a series of mistakes last season and it was thought that Henderson could end up replacing him after returning from loan at Sheffield United.
That has not come to fruition though. Strong performances at the start of the season saw him keep his place in the first-team and Henderson has had to remain satisfied with sitting on the bench, and playing the odd Cup tie, a role that Sergio Romero was playing last time around.
It is time to question though if the English keeper deserves more minutes on the pitch. While De Gea has shown flashes of his old brilliance this season, mistakes have continued to be a part of his performances as well. And these mistakes can end up costing the club crucial points, like we saw last night.
