It is undeniable that Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s decision to sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon has been one of the most successful deals in the club’s recent history. The 26-year-old midfielder has been the most instrumental player in transforming Manchester United for better since his arrival from back in the month of January of last year.
Since then, he has been regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League with 12 goals and 10 assists in just 22 appearances this season.
And it is no surprise that United will not be looking to let their ace leave any time soon. Officials at Old Trafford have already been in talks for over three months now regarding the extension of the Portuguese international’s contract despite being tied to the club till 2025 with an extension clause of one more year as reported by the Express.
So far Fernandes has had a hand in 49 goals in just 54 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils which is an astonishing number considering that the 26-year-old plays as an attacking midfielder. And this season also we have seen that his performance have not been affected in any way, rather his efforts have helped the club challenge for the title once again after seven long years.

Manchester United want Bruno Fernandes to sign a new contract
Although Fernandes has been the most influential player in the United squad, he is earning £100,000 per week, which is double of what he had been earning at his previous club but is less that what several of his teammates are earning currently with David de Gea being one of the club’s top earners and making about four times more.
It is unlikely for Fernandes to ask for an increase in his wages right now considering that he has a contact with the club till 2025, but sources from various media resources have confirmed that a bump in his wages may be on the line as United continue to offer him a new contract which may see an increase in his wages. And to be honest, he deserves it.
The Red Devils are now in tight competition with rivals Manchester City for the top spot in the Premier League and with the club currently performing at its peak, this might finally be the season where United once again make a run for the title.
