Manchester United could sign Erling Haaland for bargain fee

Many would argue that Erling Haaland is the best striker on the planet right now despite the fact that he is just 20 years of age. And while Robert Lewandowski might have something to say about that, the Norwegian is easily one of the best in the world right now if not the best. Naturally, Manchester United have been linked with him.

Haaland has been absolutely on fire since joining Borussia Dortmund. The striker has 38 goals and 8 assists in 39 appearances for the German side.

One thing that could play into United’s hands regarding any possible deal in the near future is the fact that the Bundesliga giants are struggling financially at the moment as reported by AS. As a result, they might have to rely on player sales to balance the books and they might even be forced to let them go at bargain fees.

This could serve as the perfect opportunity for the Red Devils to swoop in and try to get a deal done for Haaland, as many believe that he has a much higher ceiling than that of Jadon Sancho, another Borussia Dortmund star who has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford.

It is hard to judge whether Haaland could actually move to Manchester United

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the helm at Old Trafford, it is not hard to see why he wants to reunite with his compatriot, who he has already managed during their time together at Molde. A release clause in his contract is also expected to activate in 2022, which means that Dortmund are bound to lose him sooner or later.

But then, Haaland is represented by Mino Raiola, which would make any potential deal tricky considering the relationship he shares with the club.

Also, there won’t be any lack of suitors when a player of Haaland’s quality becomes available. Clubs like Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea have already been linked with him. As a result, Manchester United will have to do well to bring him to Old Trafford.
