It is no secret that Jack Grealish is a player that Manchester United have admired for quite a while. The club reportedly wanted him in the summer but Aston Villa’s £70 million asking price was adjudged to be too high and they decided against the move.

In hindsight, that looks like a massive mistake. Grealish has been absolutely on fire this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 11 assists in just 20 games. And at the moment, he is rated at around an incredible £100 million.

It is safe to say that United could have done with a player with his production as other than Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, nobody else has been able to find the back of the net on a consistent basis this season.

And while that has not stopped them from squeezing out wins where the margin is just a single goal, it does become a problem when they are against the traditional ‘Big Six’ who have quality all over the pitch.

Grealish told to reject Manchester United

Most players in the world would be delighted if Manchester United, but Gareth Barry has told him to snub their interest and move to their rivals instead, as reported by talkSPORT (via TEAMtalk):

"“I would love to see him work under someone like Guardiola.“That manager could help him learn more about the game, improve more. I’d go for Manchester City if you make me choose one.”"

Judging from his current form, it is likely that multiple teams will be after him in the summer and the Aston Villa captain will probably have a pick of where he wants to move to, if he does indeed end up leaving his boyhood club.

In that case, it is hard to count out a team like Manchester City. They have all the spending power in the world and under Pep Guardiola, would probably be a more attractive project at the moment.

You can never count out the pulling power of Manchester United though. They are the most successful club in England and players will always want to play at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.
