Manchester United want to sign another Sporting Lisbon star
Manchester United have performed better this season than most would have expected them to do and currently sit at second in the Premier League table. But there are still certain areas in the squad that need to be addressed sooner or later if they want to build a team that can perform domestically as well as in Europe.
One of those areas is right-wing. The club had a very public transfer saga involving Jadon Sancho in the summer but that failed to transpire as Borussia Dortmund were not willing to let him leave for less than €120 million, while the Red Devils were only willing to go as high as €100 million.
Young right-wingers like Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri were signed on deadline day but it is clear that they are not the answer to the club’s problems at the moment and need time to develop in the English game.
As a result, Manchester United are looking to repeat their tried-and-tested formula and have made an approach to sign another Sporting Lisbon star in the form of Pedro Goncalves, as reported by Report (via Sport Witness).

Manchester United will have a tough time trying to sign Goncalves
Goncalves has been sensational for Sporting Lisbon this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 2 assists in just 13 league appearances. And it is not hard to see why United want to sign him.
The Sporting Lisbon-Manchester United connection has worked like a dream in the past. Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani were brilliant during their Old Trafford days and the same can be said about Bruno Fernandes, who completed his move exactly an year ago to this day.
It will be a tough task getting a deal for Goncalves over the line though. The 22-year-old has a €60 million release clause in a contract that runs till 2025. Safe to say, Sporting Lisbon won’t be in hurry to let him go.
He does already have some experience of playing in England though, having represented Wolverhampton Wanderers in the past.
