It is no secret that defence has been a huge issue for Manchester United this season. It is arguably the biggest weakness in the team right now and one that could cost them in the long run.

The Red Devils have made quite a habit in recent times of pulling out wins despite not being at the top of their game. Unfortunately, that did not happen last night as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sheffield United.

It was quite the shocker, as winning the game would have seen Solskjaer’s side get back to the top of the Premier League table. On the other hand, Sheffield United have endured a tough time this season and had managed only one league win before last night’s victory.

It is safe to say that based on form, nobody would have seen it coming. But that’s life in the Premier League. It has raised questions once again about the Manchester United defence though.

Upamecano to Manchester United?

Sooner or later, it is expected that the club will have to go after another defender. And according to a report from AS, they have identified Dayot Upamecano as the perfect partner for Harry Maguire.

While there have been questions surrounding Maguire himself, it is undeniable that he has done quite well over the past several months. Another world class defender beside him won’t do him any harm though.

Upamecano is certainly one of them and he is expected to leave RB Leipzig in the near future. Manchester United have been interested in his signature for quite some time now though and even came close to signing him in the summer before the deal fell apart due to last moment demands.

Any potential move for the French international is going to be very tough though as he is also wanted by the likes Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Liverpool.
