Mohamed Salah has made a massive admission about Manchester United as Liverpool prepare to welcome them to Anfield in a very important Premier League clash.

At the start of the season, Liverpool would have been huge favourites to retain the Premier League title after the kind of dominance that they had shown last time around. On the other hand, Manchester United were expected to have a tough time finishing in the top four after failing to recruit heavily in the transfer window while their rivals strengthened themselves considerably.

Since then, the tables have certainly turned. The Red Devils are the ones sitting at the top of the table while Liverpool are in danger of falling behind if they fail to win the game this evening. Jurgen Klopp’s side are winless in their last three Premier League games and they will be desperate to get things back on track with a win over their rivals.

Solskjaer’s men will know that a win away at Anfield will be a huge statement of intent as they finally prepare to make a title charge once again after spending almost a decade in the shadows.

While there are still questions about their credentials, Mohamed Salah’s recent comments show that people around the league are starting to take them seriously. As reported by the Mirror, the Liverpool star said:

"“The game is really big at the moment, especially because now they are first and we are second.“They are playing well this season as well. It’s a good game but at the end of the day we need to win that game, I think that’s the most important thing.“I always say it’s just one game, it’s only one game. But because this one, if they win they are going to be six points [ahead of Liverpool ] and if you win you’re going to be the same, it’s a little bit special this game.“It’s always different. The last two years I’ve always said it’s one game and that’s it, it’s three points.“But this game now, because they are first and you have to be close to them and beat them to be first as well, it’s a little bit special.”"

Manchester United will be clear favourites going into the game. While they have not played particularly well this season, they have made it a habit to somehow find ways to win games. And that can go a long way in a tight title race.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have suffered from a string of injuries. As a result, they might very well be there for the taking when Solskjaer’s men come visiting.

The Red Devils cannot afford to get overconfident though. The fact of the matter is that they are winless against the traditional Big Six this season and their defensive frailties often get exposed against the big sides. And Klopp’s side certainly have the attacking firepower to put a few past David de Gea if they get the chance to do so.

Even a draw will be a great result for United, while Liverpool will be desperate for a win. Thus, it would not be a bad idea to hold fort for most of the game and then try to hit the hosts on the counter in the dying minutes.
