A Hollywood goal for a Hollywood striker, this goal came in front of David Beckham who is no stranger to halfway line goals himself.

Rooney used his incredible vision to spot the goalkeeper off his line and took advantage of it. This goal was in the latter stages of his career, when assets he used to rely on, such as his quick feet and pace, were depleting and he was slowly dropping down when it came to his position on the pitch. Arguably, he was transforming into more of a midfielder at this point in his career as the goals started to slowly dry up.

Rooney’s vision served him well throughout his entire career and this goal is an example of it becoming more predominant as he aged. However, this does not take away from the incredible skill and talent it takes to get a shot from this sort of range on target. This goal is a perfect example of how Rooney adapted his game as he got older and managers at the club changed. But then, you would expect nothing less from a player of his calibre.
