Paul Pogba appears to have hinted at why Mino Raiola made those explosive Manchester United comments earlier in the season.

Paul Pogba has been in brilliant form lately, even scoring the winner against Burnley to take Manchester United to the top of the Premier League table. Fans also can’t stop praising his recent displays. A few months ago though, things were not nearly as rosy.

His agent Mino Raiola had come out in public to claim that Pogba was on his way out of Old Trafford and his time at the club was ‘over’.

These comments were made leading up to United’s final Champions League group stage game against RB Leipzig, which they lost and were knocked down into the Europa League as a result. The situation surrounding Pogba was seen as a huge reason behind the club’s subpar performance on the night.

A few months and the Frenchman has appeared to hint at why his agent made those comments. As reported by the Mirror, he said:

"“I’ve been feeling very good in myself, physically and mentally as well. I’ve been playing and when you’re playing, you get your form.“It’s a huge difference when you start one game and don’t start another one, or if you don’t start for a few games.“Obviously, the team helped the players to be in good form, we’ve been playing very well. The players and the staff have been playing me, trusting me.“I have to focus in myself and give my best. On the left, on the right, in the middle, striker, defender, anything. As long as I’m on the pitch I give my best and as much as I can do to help my team.“I hate to be on the bench, I don’t like it. It doesn’t mean that other players don’t deserve to be playing but for myself, I don’t like it.“I’m a winner, I just want to play football and help my team. When I’m on the bench and I don’t come on, I feel like I can’t help my team-mates so I feel bad and I don’t like it.”"

At that point of time, Pogba was in and out of the first-team and it is not hard to see why he would have been frustrated. Unfortunately, this was not the only time that he has wanted to depart Old Trafford.

In fact, rumours about his potential exit have refused to ever go away. There was the phase under Jose Mourinho were he seemed destined to leave and it was the same situation under Solskjaer as well.

Despite his brilliant performances in recent weeks, there is very little hope that he will end up staying beyond this season. With the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Real Madrid interested in acquiring his services, these recent displays might actually be a result of him wanting show his suitors what he can do.

It is great news for Manchester United though, because if a motivated Pogba can power them towards the Premier League title then it will not only help them reach the summit of English football once again but also increase his value in the transfer market.
