There appears to be a major change in Manchester United’s January transfer plans already as the club have made a decision.

Manchester United have held their cards close to their chest heading into the January transfer window. With the possibility of a title challenge hanging over their hands, it would not be out of question for the Red Devils to go out and bring a couple of players in. But then, the lack of any such rumours are concerning.

It is not that the squad is perfect. There are still a number of voids to be filled and to be honest, they have overachieved in the league this season till now. Partly due to the failures of those around them and partly because of their own relentless ability to dig out a win from bad positions.

One deal that looked very close to happening was that of Moises Caicedo though. For a couple of months, the Ecuadorian has been linked with an Old Trafford switch. And it is public knowledge that the midfielder wants the move to take place as well.

Many reliable sources had reported that despite interest from the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Everton and Brighton and Hove Albion, the Red Devils were in control of the situation and were poised to make a deal happen.

It also made sense considering the club’s recent policy of signing the most highly-rated young talents from all over the world.

It looks like that won’t be happening anymore though as Manchester United have pulled out of the race for the Ecuadorian as reported by Sky Sports. And this time around, it should not be about the money because the Red Devils are very capable of paying the £5 million transfer fee that has been touted by the media.

In this situation, it is very likely that one of the other interested clubs could end up completing a deal for the 19-year-old, who has already made multiple appearances for his national side and even scored against Uruguay, become the first player born in the 21st century to score in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers.

Let’s just hope that in the future, United don’t regret not going after him when they had the chance.
