Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the Manchester United duo will be leaving the club, whether it is this month or in the summer.

Manchester United have made a better start this season than most would have expected them to. If they manage to beat Burnley, they will have a three point lead at the top of the Premier League. An astonishing turnaround if you consider where this side was just this time last year.

That does not mean that this squad is perfect though – far from it. There are a number of positions that need reinforcements. While there are also a number of players at the club who have very little chance of making an impact in the first-team this season and would benefit from being allowed to leave.

Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero are two such players. Their contracts are set to expire in the summer and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that they won’t be staying at Old Trafford past that point.

As reported by the Independent, he said:

"“Both of them have contracts until the summer and they’re not going to be extended”"

This is certainly the right decision for all parties involved. Neither of them are expected to ever break into the Manchester United first-team again. And it is the right step to let the Argentine duo leave in search of first-team football.

Romero was the back-up to David de Gea even last season but has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Dean Henderson from his highly successful loan spell at Sheffield United. Rojo on the other hand has not been in the first-team picture for quite a few seasons now and was even sent away on loan last January.

While both of them have a number of suitors, it is unlikely that too many of them would be keen to pay a transfer fee for players who will be available for free in just six months time. Thus, do not be surprised to see them walk out at the end of the season when their contracts run out.
