Here’s how we think Manchester United will line up when they take on Manchester City in the semi-final of Carabao Cup.

Manchester United have a great chance of booking their place at Wembley if they can beat a Manchester City side that are in the middle of a crisis right now.

With a number of key players missing and a defence that has been badly exposed due to the lack of options, you would expect an in-form United side to come out with a win. But there is still a wealth of options at Pep Guardiola’s disposal and they are still a very dangerous side. That is very clear from their 3-1 win over Chelsea, when they blew Frank Lampard’s side away in the first half itself.

Thus, United need to be very careful. While they will be the clear favourites based on current form, anything can happen on the night. And do not be surprised to see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to name a full-strength XI, despite it being the Carabao Cup.

Since his arrival, the Red Devils have not lifted a single piece of silverware. And the Norwegian manager will be desperate to change that quickly.

They sit at second on the Premier League table with a chance to go clear at the top when they take on Burnley but this is still their best chance of securing a trophy this season. The league is a marathon while they just need to win two more games to life the Carabao Cup.

Standing in their way is a Manchester City side with a number of key players missing. And if they can get past them then they await a Wembley showdown against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur, the same side who had beaten them 6-1 earlier this season, a distant memory at this point of time.
