It is confirmed that the Manchester United and FC Barcelona target will be allowed to leave in the upcoming January transfer window.

With Manchester United hovering around the top quarter of the Premier League points table lately, the growing feeling is that there is a chance that United could be about to challenge for the Premier League this season.

Liverpool’s injury concerns coupled with Manchester City’s haphazard start mean that the Premier League is more open this season than it has been in recent memory. And it is clear that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, at last, has been presented with a golden chance to incite something special at Old Trafford.

But they apparently lack what it takes to transform from a top-four side to Premier League winners. Many believe that the signing of a centre-half and a defensive midfielder could help United make that jump.

That being said, the Red Devils might fulfil both of their demands through just one signing in the January transfer window.

As reported by Express Sport, Manchester United have been monitoring Olympique de Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara for some time now. The 21-year-old Frenchman is the perfect embodiment of versatility.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Kamara can also play as a centre-back as well as a left-back. His contract is set to expire in June 2022 and the emerging interest in him from all around the world could snatch him from the hands of the French club in January.

Speaking to the media, Marseille president, Pablo Longoria, confirmed that he won’t force someone to stay at the club but would surely look forward to replacing the wantaway player:

"“If players are attractive, you have to be ready to replace them.”"

FC Barcelona have also been keen admirers of the talented midfielder. The aspiring Marseille graduate has made 15 appearances in the Ligue 1 this season so far and looks set for bigger things in his future.

Barcelona could prove to be a worthy competitors to Manchester United as far as an apparent deal is concerned.

As such, Moises Caicedo could be the other defensive-midfield candidate for the Red Devils. They have been tracking the Ecuadorian heavily for the last few weeks and are understood to be in control of the situation when it comes to the possibility of signing the midfielder.
